You just received Botox®… now what?

POST INJECTION INSTRUCTIONS 

We want your results to be amazing! Follow these simple instructions for the best results.

For patients receiving Botox® and Xeomin® injections please follow these easy instructions.  

∙ Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours. We don’t want the Botox to migrate. You may gently wash your face the same day and then resume regular activities the next day.

∙ Remain upright for approximately 4 hours post treatment. We don’t want that pillow pushing on the treatment areas and risk Botox migrating.

∙ Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for 24 hours. It takes about 4 hours for Botox to completely bind to the nerve so we do not want to increase circulation to the treatment areas and wash away the Botox!

∙ Avoid direct sunlight and tanning for the rest of the day. Botox may cause your skin to be extra sensitive to the sun.

∙ The little bumps where the Botox was injected will go away on their own in a few hours. You may bruise at an injection site but the bruise will go away on its own in a few days. Don’t rub or press on the bruise.

∙ If you are new to Botox, you may develop a headache in the first 1-2 days following your treatment. You may use ibuprofen (Motrin), acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or cool compresses. Avoid products containing aspirin for the first 2 days following your treatment. If your headaches continues or worsens, please contact our office.

∙ Remember it takes 3-5 days for you to notice the effects of Botox® and up to 14 days for the results to be optimal. If you think you need a touch up, let us know starting 10 days after your injection.  

∙ If you suspect that you may be experiencing an allergic reaction which includes hives, itchiness, rash,  please notify us immediately.
